Published: 2 October 2019

The award of Excellence of the Year in Civil Engineering is awarded by the industry association Samhällsbyggarna to someone who, with their technical know-how, has helped to develop the construction business profession and sector. This year's award went to Peter Collin, professor of structural engineering at Luleå University of Technology, for his contribution to bridge construction.

The award was presented for the second time last night, during an awards ceremony at Berns in Stockholm. Peter Collin is also marketing manager for the Bro business area of the consulting company Ramboll.

"I am very pleased with the award. The fact that I, as a Northbottom, can come down to a party at Berns does not make matters worse. I want to thank my colleagues at the university and Ramboll's bridge gang in Luleå, which, thanks to good friendship, is basically intact since I started working there in 1992. They also have a part in this award", says Peter Collin.

Among other things, Peter Collin has worked on research and development of bridges with integrated land brackets, element-built collaboration bridges and stability of steel structures. He regularly organizes seminars at both national and international level, and has worked on projects such as the Öresund Bridge that increased traffic capacity between Sweden and Denmark.
