Thomas Kuhn Swedish delegate in IASC

Published: 6 February 2019

Thomas Kuhn, Associate Professor of Atmospheric Science at Luleå University of Technology, has been appointed Swedish representative in the Atmosphere Working Group in the International Arctic Science Committee by the Swedish Research Council.

– It is a great honor to be representing Sweden in this organization. I am happy for the trust, both with regard to my research in this field and my willingness to be able to contribute and support new important research in a larger context, says Thomas Kuhn.

The International Arctic Science Committee, IASC, is an non-governmental scientific organization that aims to encourage, facilitate and promote collaboration in all aspects of Arctic research. Sweden is one of the member countries of the IASC and it is the Swedish Research Council that appoints the Swedish delegates to the various working groups of the organization.

Thomas Kuhn's task is to act as a link between the IASC and the Swedish Research Council and the Swedish research community.

– But first I have to learn more about the atmospheric research with focus on the polar regions, carried out by our talented researchers around the country, says Thomas Kuhn.

– I hope to contribute to starting new interesting collaborations between Swedish and international researchers that will give us important research results on the sensitive system that the Arctic is.
