Vision for Storheden City

Published: 8 June 2020

Several researchers from Luleå University of Technology have participated in the vision developed to develop the large shopping area Storheden outside Luleå. Responsible architect was Björn Ekelund with his firm Warm in the Winter.

Björn Ekelund is also a senior lecturer at Luleå University of Technology and a teacher of the civil engineering program in architecture.

"Four researchers from the university's research group in architecture participated with their expertise and input both in formulating project objectives and in drawing up the design proposals, which were later presented to the public in a so-called citizen dialogue", says Björn Ekelund.

Contributing researchers were Erik Hidman, Glenn Berggård, Suzanna Törnroth and David Chapman.

Architecture research includes building design, urban and traffic planning, where aesthetics is joined with functional, technical, practical and economic dimensions in relation to people, sustainability, landscape, and the built environment
