Luleå University of Technology has previously had several researchers on IVA's prestigious 100 list of current research.
– The purpose of the 100 list is to increase collaboration between higher education institutions and the business community. The road from research to innovation can be long, but there are always researchers with knowledge that can be transferred to the market. The visibility we offer through the 100 list increases the chances for research to benefit, says Tuula Teeri, CEO of IVA.
The choice of theme for this year's list, emergency preparedness, is a direct result of the corona pandemic. New for this year is that researchers are encouraged to nominate themselves. The application is open until March 22. More information about the list and the nomination process can be found here.
Engineering and economic sciences
The 100 list is open to researchers and research teams within engineering and economic sciences who are seeking contacts with business/industry and their communities to partner for continued research, applications and to commercialise the research or put it to good use in some way.
According to IVA, the purpose of the 100 list is to shine a spotlight on researchers and research teams who want to increase their contacts with the business community/industry and their local community. Being selected for the list is therefore not based on scientific excellence; the focus is instead on the potential of the research for commercial development and innovation, and its possible benefits for users, businesses and society. High scientific quality is, however, a basic requirement to be considered for the list. The selection process is based on five criteria, applying a points system.
The research must be applicable in one of the areas:
• Smart industry
• Circular economy
• Society and welfare
• Business models
• Green industries
