LKAB secures the future with LTU Professional Education

LKAB's HR managers, together with Mining and Operations, have identified a need to have more basic trained technicians within the Group and have chosen to train twelve employees in an education in operation and maintenance technology via LTU Professional Education.

- LTU Professional Education is an important way for us to secure long-term competence, says Anki Lindgren, Head of Education HR LKAB.

The education initiative is in line with LKAB's ambition to offer continuous learning and career opportunities for its employees. Further education in operation and maintenance technology was the first of its kind at LKAB and now it is planned to train with LTU Professional Education in other areas of expertise.

- To start studying again was almost shocking, we made a real start. But we are a good group that support each other. As we come in with different experiences, qualities and ways of thinking, we increase the understanding of other workplaces at LKAB. Now I hope that more people will have the same chance that I have received. I am absolutely sure that LKAB will win on this concept, says Dennis Johansson, operator at LKAB.

Through the new venture LTU Professional Education, Luleå University of Technology creates opportunities for companies and professionals to further develop their activities as well as individual careers. Initially, you have a selection of courses in technology, management and nursing, as well as the possibility of tailoring your own education entirely based on the needs of the business. LKAB and the Swedish Armed Forces are among the first clients in the LTU Professional Education initiative, while the open courses offered at the study centers and at a distance have proved popular and some course dates are already full.
