– This is strategically important for Luleå University of Technology and for the region. This means that we can continue to develop our support to enable social innovation in the region, Marita Holst says, project manager of Forum for Social Innovation, Sweden (MSI) at Luleå University of Technology.
Several universities collaborate
Forum for Social Innovation, Sweden (MSI) is a collaboration between Malmö University and Luleå University of Technology, Umeå University, Örebro University and the Jönköping University Foundation. The application to the European Commission to establish a national competence center also includes the Reach for Change Foundation and the Include Association.
– This means that we as a university are part of a strong Swedish partnership that has the opportunity to, as a designated Swedish partner, build a European consortium around social innovation, Marita Holst, says.
Future national competence center
If the European Commission approves the application, the platform will serve as a national competence center for social innovation and in particular support innovative projects and authorities within the European Social Fund. This means that Forum for Social Innovation, Sweden (MSI) will be able to contribute with its specialist knowledge and work with information, advice, guidance and education as well as with collaboration, networking and mutual learning about social innovation, nationally and in Europe. The European Commission wants to give better priority to social innovation in Europe.
Forum for Social Innovation, Sweden (MSI) has since 2010 been a unifying national knowledge and collaboration platform in Sweden for social innovation and since 2018 at Luleå University of Technology. The platform works to create meeting places for collaboration, networking and joint learning in social innovation.
