Creating sustainable sanitation systems in rural Mexico

3.6 billion people, nearly half the world’s population, do not have access to safely managed sanitation in their home. How can you solve this problem in areas without running water and sanitation systems?

Stephanie Rusch Fehrmann, researcher in Urban water engineering is telling and showing pictures from when she spent four weeks in rural Mexico with the organisation SARAR to find ways to collect and re-use urine and excreta.

She also makes a brief comparison between the sanitation systems in Mexico and Sweden.
