Girjas Seminar: Historic land use – The role of the state and the Courts

The seminar highlights the significance of historical sources and legal concepts and their interpretation in the case between the state and Girjas' Sami village on hunting and fishing rights. The seminar also addresses the consequences of the Girjas verdict.

The seminar is aimed at an interested public as well as authorities and researchers working on natural resource/ land use issues with connection to reindeer husbandry's traditional lands.

Among the speakers are Sten Andersson from the Supreme court, Girjas Sami Village's lawyer Peter Danowsky and Matti Berg, chairman of Girjas Sami village. Full program, with additional speakers, are presented later.
