Critical minerals in a critical location

Extraction and refining of metals and minerals is central to the green transition. LKAB has recently identified significant amounts of rare earth metals in the Kiruna area, necessary for, among other things, the manufacturing of electric cars and wind turbines. At the same time, the establishment of a circular industrial park in Luleå is planned for this purpose.
