About VPN

Published: 11 August 2016

VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a technology that makes it possible to safely access the university's computer network from your computer when you are away from the university.

When you start the VPN an encrypted tunnel is created from your computer to the university network. This means that no outsider can see the content of the traffic that is sent between your computer and the university, even if your computer is on an open (public) network. The service provider that is responsible for the internet connection where you and your computer is, can only see how much data is sent, not what it consists of.
