Latest news about the library premises in Luleå and Piteå

Published: 18 December 2018

As everyone knows, the university library is in temporary premises. But what happens in the old premises? Here you can read the latest on what's going on. The library will update continuously.

What do we want?
We build an environment with many electrical outlets, energy efficient lighting, good ventilation, different types of study places, easy-to-access self-service, but also good support if you need help.

Our plans and solutions have been inspired by feedback and suggestions from students, the university's educational idea, other university environments and what the research says about libraries as a learning environment.

We want to create a library that works for different educational methods, academic approaches and professional skills, an environment where everyone feels welcome and inspired.

What happens?
The building project are currently under construction and planning of details in the interior design is taking place.
We will have an open house in January. There the library, together with the university and Akademiska Hus, will inform more.
More information will be available later.

In Piteå, a long-awaited rebuilding of the premises has finally begun. This means that the library will be in temporary premises during that time, in A104.

Most of the material from the Sheet Music Collection and a small numbers of the course books are available as well as the library’s services. The rest of the materials are unavailable.
It is though possible to borrow material from other libraries if something is missing in the shelves.

The library is not able to keep the Meröppet during the construction period.
