New fee at the library

Published: 15 September 2022

The library is now introducing replacement costs for unreturned books.

Unfortunately, many books borrowed from the university library are never returned, which affects others who want to borrow from the library. Replacing the books is an expensive and time-consuming process. In order to be able to offer accessible books to all borrowers, a replacement cost is therefore introduced for unreturned loans.

The replacement cost is added to the library account. The replacement cost is SEK 800 per title. It is the same cost for all types of books and materials. The amount is deducted from the account as soon as the material is returned.

The late fees for course books are, as before, SEK 50 in case of delay and then an additional SEK 50 if the book is not returned/renewed. If you return the book, the replacement cost will automatically disappear. You will still have to pay the late fee.

The library account is blocked for borrowing and re-borrowing when you have incurred a debt. When the debt is paid, the borrower can borrow as usual again.

The library also accepts a replacement copy instead of SEK 800. This is only by agreement.
