Awarded for excellent work

The recipients of Luleå University of Technology's educational award, Region Norrbotten's scholarship in memory of former county council director Elisabeth Holmgren and scholarships from Rune and Märta Ström's foundation were presented at Vetenskapens hus earlier this week.

Per Weihed, Pro Vice- Chancellor of Luleå University of Technology, started by saying that he thinks it is being awarded too few prizes.

– We should show more appreciation, he said.

He was also the the one who handed out Luleå University of Technology's educational award. It went to Patrik Holmlund, who is Senior Lecturer and within the research area Pervasive and Mobile Computing in Skellefteå.

– He always has the students' learning in focus, said Per Weihed.

In addition to flowers and diplomas, Patrik Holmlund also received money for skills development.

The scholarship in memory of Elisabeth Holmgren was awarded to Terese Wahlroos, specialist nurse, who works within forensic psychiatry care in Öjebyn. Her degree project at Luleå University of Technology is part of a research project. Terese Wahlroos receives SEK 35,000.

The prize aims to unite the academy with the work within the Region of Norrbotten.

– I especially want to thank all the patients who participated in the study, said Terese Wahlroos when she received flowers and checks.

Industrial design engineering student Tobias Wahlroos and AlexBergdah, student of engineering physics, both at Luleå University of Technology, received scholarships from Rune and Märta Ströms foundation. They were awarded a check of SEK 15,000 each and flowers for good study performances.
