Increased cooperation with Norrbotten County Council

Published: 23 September 2016

Luleå University of Technology and Norrbottens County Council increase their cooperation in areas such as research, innovation and competence development.

Luleå University of Technology and The County Council of Norrbotten today signed a new letter of intent.

The parts want to increase their long term strategic cooperation on regional development, innovation, research and development and infrastructure.
– We are already cooperating in several areas, but this letter of intent makes the common stance clearer, says Maria Stenberg, chairman of Norrbotten County Council.

In October, the Swedish parliament is expected to take a decision to transform Norrbotten County Council to Region Norrbotten. The County Council will then take over the responsibility for the regional development from the County government.

– This letter of intent is partly an effort to deepen the university's collaboration with the County Council, says Johan Sterte, Vice-Chancellor of Luleå University of Technology.
