Dr. Anshuman Bhardwaj is a remote sensing specialist, trained in glacio-hydrological sciences. He has noteworthy research experience in remote sensing-based image processing and classification, field data collection, spatial and non-spatial data integration in GIS and spatial modeling, with a focus on cold-mountain ecosystems. He has developed and published automated algorithms for glacial and mountainous terrain mapping in reputed remote sensing journals. He has significant cryospheric fieldwork experience in Indian as well as Nepalese Himalaya and is well versed with the associated geomorphological landforms. He has been a member of several reputed national and international glaciological and glacio-hydrological trainings and field expeditions. Anshuman is well acquainted with some of the significantly used remote sensing Digital Image Processing (DIP) software, GIS software, snow and glacial hydrology and geomorphology-based models to understand and estimate quantitative dynamics of the cryosphere.

In April 2016, Dr. Bhardwaj joined the Atomspheric Science Group at Luleå University of Technolgy (LTU) as a Postdoctoral Scientist and in May 2017, he started working at LTU as an Associate Senior Lecturer. Since September 2019, he is a Senior Lecturer in the same department. The group uses his expertise in remote sensing on multiple fronts; in Mars research using Curiosity Rover data to correlate atmospheric data with geological processes, in studying Martian landforms which can be associated with past and present water activities, in studying Mars analogues on Earth using new techniques such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and for studying the impact of changing climate on the Arctic and sub-Arctic glaciers. Apart from his regular research responsibilities at the LTU, he is also working on the glacio-hydrological modeling of the Indian Himalayan glaciated basins.

He is on the editorial board of several prestigious journals. Since May 2017, Dr. Bhardwaj is acting as an Editor of a Taylor and Francis open access journal Cogent Geoscience (https://www.cogentoa.com/journal/geoscience). In July 2017, He joined the editorial board of another Springer Nature open access journal BMC Research Notes (https://bmcresnotes.biomedcentral.com/) as an Associate Editor. In November 2017, Dr. Bhardwaj was invited to be a part of the editorial board of the top-ranked photogrammetry and remote sensing journal ISPRS journal of photogrammetry and remote sensing (https://www.journals.elsevier.com/isprs-journal-of-photogrammetry-and-remote-sensing/). This is the official journal of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). Since October 2018, Dr. Bhardwaj is on the editorial board of another multidisciplinary journal Springer Nature Applied Sciences (https://www.springer.com/engineering/journal/42452). Given his reputation in Planetary Sceinces, in October 2018, Dr. Bhardwaj also joined the editorial board of Frontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences journal (https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/astronomy-and-space-sciences). He is also a Guest Editor of Remote Sensing journal for the special issue on glaciology (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/remotesensing/special_issues/glaciology_rs).
