Norrbotten gets Award for the development of e-health

The European Commission has appointed Norrbotten as a four-star Reference Site. This means that the county is one of the most prominent regions in Europe in terms of innovative work in healthcare.
– Many ideas that lead to this award come from Luleå University of Technology, says Per-Olof Egnell, EIC's operations manager.

The collaboration between Region Norrbotten and Luleå University of Technology is long-standing. The Center for Innovation and eHealth, EIC, develops new solutions in health, care and care by utilizing the possibilities of digitalisation. The work is done in collaboration with the Norrbotten Region, municipalities and companies.

– It is a confirmation that we are among the foremost in terms of the development of technology in healthcare, says Per-Olof Egnell.

Norrbotten has also previously been awarded with three stars. The nomination now applies to the highest level, four stars.

The appointment is called the Reference Site for the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Aging and means being appointed as leader in the field.

The purpose of the nomination is for Norrbotten and other award winners to act as sources of inspiration for other actors.
