Strengthens cooperation with RISE SICOMP

Published: 18 March 2019

Luleå University of Technology has signed a cooperation agreement with RISE SICOMP AB regarding the provision of skills, competence development, infrastructure, research and innovation.

- I am glad that we have now formally signed a cooperation agreement with RISE SICOMP. This agreement means that we are strengthening a collaboration that has been established for a long time and that we together define research challenges and joint research projects as well as projects within our education programs. A workshop later this spring will concretise the collaboration further, says Pär Weihed, pro-rector at Luleå University of Technology.

Bengt Wälivaara, CEO of RISE SICOMP, also welcomes the cooperation agreement.

- We have a long tradition of cooperation with Luleå University of Technology, so it is really nothing new but now we have formalized the cooperation in an agreement. It is important both for us and for the outside world, he says

Long-term commitment with opportunities

The collaboration between Luleå University of Technology and RISE SICOMP means a long-term commitment that opens up new opportunities, such as a new joint competence center and a new research and testing facility. In addition to the research, the collaboration also contributes to the students getting internships and that the need for new short courses in fiber composites can be identified. The collaboration also creates opportunities for the students when it comes to thesis work, summer jobs and skills provision.

A workshop will be carried out before the summer, where concrete efforts for collaboration between RISE SICOMP and the university are established.
