Best in Sweden-LTU's economists

Swedish Agency for Higher Education (HSV) gives top rank to the Master's degree in Economics at Luleå University of Technology in a new round of quality assessment of the Swedish academic institutions. Also bachelor's degree in the same subject at the university gets high ranks.

Swedish Agency for Higher Education and it's evaluations are primarily based on independent audits of student theses. There are only two educations in the country, in Economics, which is ranked as "very high quality", Stockholm School of Economics and LTU's degree in Master Economics.

- We are pleased and proud that our students are performing this good. We see how those who study with us in Luleå gets attractive and competitive jobs nationally, such as at the Finance and Industry Ministries. Several have also won awards for their theses, says Patrik Söderholm, Professor and Head of Department at the university.

- It is fun and positive that we get as good grades in economics and in that topic we belong to the absolute peak in the country, says Johan Sterte Vice Chancellor at Luleå University of Technology.

Luleå economics education at an advanced level, are like the research connected to the topic, focusing on environmental, energy and natural resource economics. This provides students with a clear profile of education and also makes it possible to get a strong research basis during training. Luleå's economists have also been praised in earlier evaluations.

- We work hard to develop our courses in dialogue with the students to improve their learning process. It is very important to stimulate students' interest and curiosity in the subject, says Olle Hage, lecturer that during several years successfully worked to develop education in economics.
