Research teams from Luleå University of Technology compete with NASA

Published: 2 August 2019

Next week, a research group from Luleå University of Technology in the DARPA Subterranean (SubT) Challenge will compete with a team from NASA / Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Professor George Nikolakopoulos and his robotics and AI team are participating in the prestigious competition.

DARPA SubT Challange aims to develop innovative technologies that would expand the opportunity for underground operations. SubT Challenge will explore new approaches to quickly map, navigate, search, and utilize complex underground environments, including human-made tunnel systems and natural cave networks. The tunnels can extend over several kilometers and consist of very limited passages, several levels and vertical openings. The competition consists of several parts with different risk and reward levels. We wish them the best of luck!
