Filip Simán, Master Programme in Natural Resources Engineering, and Eric Lundvall , Master Programme in International Business, both also work in the organization Engineers Without Borders at Luleå University of Technolgy. This summer they have worked two weeks in Tanzania.

This is the second year students from Luleå Universityof Technology are working on the project which aims to improve the educational environment in Mafinga, Tanzania. This year a new water pump aws installed in the village to facilitate daily life. A short education on how to build their own pumps was completed and the work was met with great appreciation and curiosity from the locals.

"This was a rewarding and exciting experience also for us", says Filip Simán.

During the fall, Philip and Eric give a lecture about their experiences. They will also arrange a Christmas auction  in the same way that helped to partially finance this year's effort in Tanzania. At the auction everything from experiences to the gym membership and retail products donated by local businesses were sold.

One of the major challenges of the project was to get funding, thanks to the support from the national organization Engineers Without Borders and the Olof Palme Memorial Fund the project became a reality.
