Luleå University of Technology joins the Swedish climate framework
Luleå University of Technology joins the Swedish climate framework. A wide-ranging climate transition of our societies is needed if we are to limit global warming and meet the 1.5 degrees Celsius objective. Therefore, Luleå University of Technology joins the national climate framework with 35 other Swedish universities and university colleges.
The climate framework is an initiative of universities with the ambition of clearly contributing to mitigation of climate change in line with society's national and international commitments.
– The universities' research and education have a crucial role in the transition to a sustainable society. Without new knowledge, we will always be a step behind in managing and counteracting climate change. As universities, we must live as we learn and show that we take the research results about the climate seriously. The climate framework is a very good initiative that Luleå University of Technology of course joins, says Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn, vice-chancellor of Luleå University of Technology.
By joining the Climate framework, Luleå University of Technology commits to developing climate strategies and measures for reducing emissions.
