Minister visited the university

Matilda Ernkrans, Minister of Higher Education and Research, visited Luleå University of Technology on Wednesday. She learned more about space and AI research, as well as the teacher education.

Matilda Ernkrans had company of State Secretary Malin Cederfeldt Östberg, political advisor Klas-Herman Lundgren and MP Linus Sköld (S).

Marcus Liwicki, professor of machine learning, gave them an insight in the AI Innovation Hub. Caroline Graeske, associate professor of Swedish and education, talked about teacher education at distance and on campus.

Olle Norberg, vice-rector for space, joined by link from the ongoing Space Innovation Forum in Kiruna. Matilda Ernkrans encouraged the participants at the Forum – a meeting place for the space industry and researchers – to "keep up their good work".
–We need talented students and researchers to continue to be a successful space nation. I look forward to visiting Kiruna in a few weeks, said Matilda Ernkrans.

She and the other visitors also met students and union representatives at Luleå University of Technology, and also received an appreciated presentation of DEPICT LAB. University lecturer Peter Törlind gave them an insight into the laboratory environment where researchers can visualize and analyze human behavior using the latest technology in the field.
