The aim of UNIVERSEH is to facilitate mobility and multilingualism, promote student integration and diversity, support interdisciplinary programs and strengthen educational innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe. The Center for Educational Development leads one of the project's work packages with a focus on developing innovative pedagogical models for UNIVERSEH collaboration.
– Digitization offers fantastic opportunities to powerfully strengthen students' learning, but we also need to investigate what changes it entails in teaching design and teachers' teaching, says Malin Larsson Lindbäck, Educational Developer and director of the Center for Educational Development.
– It is both about exploring how technology and pedagogy can meet in hybrid classrooms and how digital formats can stimulate students' independence, adds Agneta Hedenström, Educational Developer at the Center for Educational Development who leads activities on hybrid learning in the project.
Digitization and learning community
Since the teacher is a critical factor in the introduction of new pedagogical approaches, the work package is also about how digitization can make knowledge and inspiration available for teachers' competence development. In the long term, the parties in UNIVERSEH will also form a learning community that promotes a culture of sharing, both between universities and between clusters of teaching colleges and individual teachers.
– Students get access to the best teachers, to courses that are built on principles that stimulate independence, professionalism and an entrepreneurial spirit. Already during their studies, they also get to create and learn to use profession-related networks to solve typical complex assignments that strengthen their career opportunities, says Oskar Gedda, Educational Developer and initiator of this particular part of the work package.
The vision is that UNIVERSEH can create synergies that contribute to a broader and deeper approach to development and that the collaboration results in creative ideas that are realized in actual educational programmes.
– Gathering strength like this around educational development is incredibly exciting! We can learn from others as our ideas are tested, developed and refined into something that can enrich our own innovative educations. We hope that many at Luleå University of Technology will see the opportunities and want to contribute to this strategic and concrete development work, concludes Malin Larsson Lindbäck.
