– Telia wants to be in the forefront when it comes to taking 5G to Sweden. An important part is this kind of research-based collaboration, where academia, industry and public sector can meet to explore 5G opportunities before launching in 2020, says Telia Sveriges newly-appointed CEO, Anders Olsson, who visited Luleå this week.
Luleå University of Technology's Vice-chancellor, Birgitta Bergvall-Kårborn, emphasizes the university's extensive education and research in automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning and data centers.
– We have a proud history of communications networks collaborations, with Effnet, Marratech and Operax. To now, together with Telia, establish a 5G test bed feels very exciting and is in line with our strategically important research and innovation areas. The fact that we also have such a broad partnership with 30 companies, public sector and users is extra valuable, says Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn.
Telia is a large employer with around 550 employees in Luleå. During his visit in the city, Anders Olsson, also met mayor Lenita Ericson, Roger Danell, Luleå Municipal Commitment, and Li Skarin, CEO of Luleå Enterprise.
