New forest collaboration will strengthen research and education

Luleå University of Technology has signed a collaboration agreement with the Swedish Forest Industries Federation and Swedish Wood. The collaboration – which includes research, innovation and education – should lead to investments that ensure the supply of skills and support the transition to a bio-based economy.

What started in 1929 when Lars Martinson's great grandfather Sigurd bought an ambulatory sawmill, has today grown to a leading wood processing group who takes advantage of the latest technology.

Lars Martinson was brought up in Bygdsiljum, Skellefteå and is today CEO of the Martinsons´ business group, which under his leadership has developed into a leading company in the wood products industry.

Johanna recommends the wood industry

In 2009, Johanna Brehmer took her degree at MsC in Wood Technology at Luleå University of Technology. Now she works as a project manager at Stenvalls Trä in Sikfors, a role she thrives in. She would like to see more people enter the exciting and challenging wood industry.

Three dissertations about the wood industry

In June, three researchers in Wood Science and Engineering at Luleå University of Technology in Skellefteå presented their dissertations. Common to these studies is that they aim to strengthen the Swedish timber industry.
