AI4GreenBUS
Luleå University of Technology (LTU) is a partner in the European project AI4GreenBUS – Business Model Innovation with Artificial Intelligence for the Urgent Green Agenda: Educate to Innovate, an Erasmus+ Innovation Alliance initiative supporting the green and digital transition.
The project officially kicked off on 16–17 February 2026 at LTU, bringing together partners from across Europe to collaborate on advancing AI-enabled Sustainable Business Model Innovation (AI-SBMI).
About the project
AI4GreenBUS aims to strengthen competencies for AI-driven sustainable business model innovation by combining artificial intelligence, digitalisation, and entrepreneurship. The project supports the development of green, digital, and entrepreneurial skills across higher education, vocational education and training (VET), and industry.
Key objectives include:
- Developing an innovative AI-SBMI methodology
- Creating a 15 ECTS micro-credential programme
- Establishing a Sustainable Business Metaverse Incubator as a digital learning and innovation environment
- Strengthening collaboration between academia, VET, and industry
These activities contribute to building future-ready skills and supporting sustainable innovation across Europe.
Consortium and collaboration
The project brings together 10 European partners from higher education institutions, VET providers, industry, and innovation organisations. It is coordinated by Lapland University of Applied Sciences (Finland).
This cross-sectoral collaboration ensures strong links between education, research, and industry, supporting the development and real-world application of AI-driven business solutions.
Project structure (Work Packages)
The project is organised into six work packages:
- WP1: Project Management and Coordination (Lapland UAS)
- WP2: AI-SBMI Methodology Development (FH Aachen)
- WP3: Development of the AI-SBMI Training Programme (Lapland UAS)
- WP4: Sustainable Business Metaverse Incubator (Turiba University)
- WP5: Piloting and Exploitation (Université de Caen Normandie)
- WP6: Communication and Dissemination (Turiba University)
LTU’s role in the project
At LTU, the project brings together an interdisciplinary team contributing expertise in artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and digital education.
LTU contributes to the development of an AI-enabled student performance evaluation tool, supporting learning and assessment within the micro-credential programme and its integration into the Metaverse Incubator.
The LTU team includes:

- Wiebke Reim – Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- Saleha Haseeb – Postdoctoral Researcher in Machine Learning
- Hamam Mokayed – Associate Professor in Machine Learning
Looking ahead
Over the course of the project (2025–2028), AI4GreenBUS will deliver innovative educational programmes, digital tools, and collaborative platforms that support the transition toward a more sustainable and digitally enabled economy.
