New innovation alliance increase business ideas in the region

Published: 12 December 2017

It will be easier for innovators in the region to go from an idea to reality. LTU Business and Almi has formed an innovation alliance to help people with new business ideas in Västerbotten and Norrbotten's 29 municipalities.

- We have known for a long time that it's important to get in early with support for innovators and now we have that opportunity, it feels amazing! Our cooperation will be of great importance to the number of new companies created in the region, said Sofia Gullholm, Area Manager for Västerbotten at LTU Business AB.

Northern Sweden is already one of the EU's leading innovation regions. The project will further consolidate the position by offering free and confidential innovation support to all individuals with ideas in an early stage in Västerbotten and Norrbotten. In the first year, the project specialists will identify 152 business ideas. Each idea is given the opportunity to receive verification activities worth a value of SEK 50,000, so that the innovator can assess the value and market potential of its idea.

- Both of our companies have long experience and well-developed processes to support the way in which early ideas go against commercial reality. We are looking forward to meeting a rich diversity of ideas from all over society. Our goal is to provide our advice in a timely manner to help the idea carrier to go from an idea to confirming market potential. says Malin Nilsson Correia, Norrbotten Adviser at Almi.

The project is funded by Vinnova, the Swedish Innovation Department, and will work closely with other organizations in innovation and entrepreneurial support activities.
