Innovative art and science

Published: 1 March 2012

Art can evoke emotions and touch us – make us ask questions, create well-being, or provoke.Art can also help us to communicate experiences and information. When art meets technology, the creativity that exists within each area can together provide new opportunities to solve complex problems.

Examples of issues include how technology can enable new ways for the performance of art and how art can make technology more accessible.Of great importance is how art and technology can in an interactive sense, provide impetus to one another’s forward development.

Activities within cross-border art and technology aim to produce both traditional and innovative art experience in selected areas, often integrated with technical solutions. It can apply to compositions, arrangements and performances, directly or via the media, as well as the design of products, experiences and structures. The challenge lies in discovering when the line between art and technology is no longer evident and something completely new arises.
