Contributions to improved industrial processes

A new thesis at Luleå University of Technology presents newly developed methods and tools to meet challenges that arise in continuous industrial processes.

On November 27, 2017, Francesca Capaci presented her licentiate thesis with the title: “Contributions to the Use of Statistical Methods for Improving Continuous Production.” In her thesis, Francesca presents adapted methods within statistical process control and design and analysis of experiments to meet challenges in their use in continuous industrial processes. For example, data from these processes are often multivariate and autocorrelated time series. Francesca has above all studied how the above mentioned methods can be adapted to processes where control loops are activated, i.e. processes in “closed-loop operation.” Johan Carlsson, Professor in signal processing at LTU, was the external reviewer at the seminar.
