The wind farm is located approximately 70 km southwest of Luleå. Covering an area of more than 40*20km, the project affects several communities, including Sámi villages, along the Piteå river. The size of the project and the large number of people involved in the process, gave way to a challenging permitting and construction process. In addition to visiting one of the actual production sites, we will therefore also participate in a seminar, organized by Piteå municipality, about challenges related to the permitting and establishing of large wind farms from a legal, economic and political perspective. The speakers include researchers from Luleå University of Technology as well as representatives from Svevind (i.e. the company), the municipality and other local actors.
The excursion also includes a visit to the School of Music in Piteå, (part of the university) and lunch.
