– Everything from manufacturing industry to healthcare will be affected by digitisation. It implies increased opportunities to offer a higher social standard over large geographical areas, says Daniel Örtqvist, Professor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Luleå University of Technology.
The digitisation can create new jobs, businesses and a global digital presence. But it can also mean fewer jobs, loss of markets and difficulties to adapt. At Forskarforum 2017 the second digital revolution and how it will affect the regions' development will be discussed. Luleå University of Technology and Norrbotten County Council host the conference organised in collaboration with Reglab, the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth and the Center for Regional Studies. The purpose is to link the current research to the regional development work in progress.
– It is important that Forskarforum takes place here at Luleå University of Technology since the conference is a platform for learning about regional development. Digitalisation is an area of excellence for Luleå University of Technology, and several of our researchers will present results that are relevant whitin this field, says Åsa Wallström, Professor of Industrial Marketing and Head of the Department for Business Administration and Industrial Engineering.
Forskarforum starts on the evening of the 17th of October with a visit to RISE SICS North, the world's first open big-data research datacenter.
