Thursday to Sunday this week, 218 students from all over the country will be in Luleå to attend the Swedish Championship in Economics.
– There was a tough internal competition during the competition on March 8th and those who qualified will now defend their school in Luleå. On the 13th of May, the teams that qualify to the final will answer questions in front of the audience. They are based on theories and skills included in the courses of the country's all economic programs, says Isabella Holmberg, Contest Manager of the Swedish Championship in Economics and student at the program in Business Administration and Industrial Engineering at Luleå University of Technology.
The Swedish Championship in Economics runs from 11-14th of May and contains more than the competition. The participating students can listen to interesting lecturers such as Per Holknekt, entrepreneur and founder of the clothing company Odd Molly, and te former student Catrin Fransson, CEO of AB Svensk Exportkredit, and also appointed as one of Sweden's most powerful women by the magazine Veckans Affärer.
Students planned the event
The Economics Division at Luleå University of Technology applied for the year's Swedish Championship in Economics and a project group consisting of twelve students from Luleå have planned the event.
– The competition has been held for over thirty years and it's great that we have a good student organisation that will arrange the event now, says Daniel Örtqvist, Senior Lecturer at Luleå University of Technology.
The final, which will be held on Saturday the 13th of May at Kulturhuset in Luleå, is open for the public and media.
