Student case with real value

Published: 9 June 2016

100 students from Industrial and Management Engineering at Luleå University of Technology, have worked to develop Swedish Cater.

– I am really impressed by the students' effort. It has been a very interesting process. We have received questions that we ourselves have had to reflect on, says Rolf Salomonsson, Wholesale Manager at Svensk Cater in Lulea.

Are allowed to think freely

The course gives students an opportunity to implement a project in close collaboration with a company. This year’s company was Svensk Cater, which delivers groceries to restaurants and caterers in Luleå and Norrbotten.

The students are given the opportunity to define which area of development they want to focus on. This year they examined all from customer relationships and customer satisfaction, to inventory control, logistics, and marketing.

– We have found many good ideas. I have only positive things to say. The students have done an impressive job which gives us real value, says Rolf Salomonsson.

A fruitful cooperation

The course is now completed but the cooperation with the students and Luleå University of Technology continues.

– One of the students will work as deputy Purchasing Manager during summer. The other will work with the communication on social media, says Rolf Salomonsson.
