Published: 2 July 2019

Åsa Engström, professor at Luleå University of Technology, has been elected to the board of the Swedish Nursing Association, which works for the nursing profession.
– I will be involved in the questions that are relevant for the profession. It is valuable for our education and postgraduate education, she says.

It was in the middle of June that the Swedish Nursing Association held a general meeting and elected four people to the board, including re-election of the chairman. The association works among other things to develop nursing education, continuing education and profession. In addition, there are issues such as spreading research results and strengthening cooperation between clinically active nurses and researchers. The association is also a referral body with regard to both education and healthcare with for example, different ministries.

–  I think I am the first northern member on the board. It feels exciting to be part of this and to be involved in the development of the profession and to be able to raise issues that are unique to our region, says Åsa Engström, professor of nursing.
