2018–2019, was a strategic effort done to strengthen research in the field of health at Luleå University of Technology. The goal was to increase clustering, positioning, visibility and external financing.
The initiative will also continue in 2020, with funding from the Department of Health Sciences.

The mission is still to identify profile areas and develop strategy for university profiling in the field, including external funding

Three initial program areas have been identified, based on community needs and ongoing research at the university.

  • How to promote a sustainable working life?
  • How are health-promoting living habits and societal environments supported?
  • How is active and healthy aging promoted?

Meritative contexts for all areas are digitization and other technologies, arctic perspectives, community building, lab research and interaction between subjects and organizations.

Researchers in the health area at Luleå University of Technology are given opportunities to propose research initiatives that can be developed into projects with high potential for external financing and international positioning. Winning proposals will receive financial support and advice to proceed.

Several of the previous research initiatives that have been granted financial support and advice have attracted mass media attention and been granted additional research grants. Read more in News.
