Division of medical sciences

We teach medical subjects at basic and advanced level in all study programmes in the department. We also conduct research in several areas.

Our lecturers are engaged in the following programmes: Nursing, radiography, occupational therapy and physiotherapy. The subjects we teach include anatomy, physiology and microbiology. Additionally we cover the subjects: psychiatry, pharmacology, pharmacological calculation and general pathology. In our division we are responsible for the Bachelor programme for radiographers with the main area radiography. In this programme we are responsible for range of courses including different imaging methods used in medical imaging.

We also give freestanding medical courses in diabetes, psychiatry, cardiology, general pharmacology and emergency care. We have modern training and laboratory facilities where our students have an opportunity to closely interact with the lecturers and get training in practical skills, laboratory work and simulation. We also take part in dissection, exercises and exams.   

Furthermore we spend a lot of time on research in the medical division in subjects like peripheral circulation in cold climate, communication in health care, concussion, medical simulation practice and myocardial infarction. We are engaged in research in pharmacology reaching between medical treatment and pharmacological materials engineering. In certain areas we have an extensive international engagement.
