The project Digital Competence in Norrbotten starts

Published: 14 January 2019

A new project that is being carried out in collaboration between the Department of Health Sciences at Luleå University of Technology and Region Norrbotten, will find out what competence the digitalization places on employees in the health and medical care sector and on teachers in the field.

As healthcare and university education in the area become increasingly digital, there is a need to define what digital competence means, how it can change over time and what digital skills employees need in the future. With this as a basis, a model will be developed that strengthens the digital competence. Furthermore, an organization to continuously develop the employees' digital skills will be developed in consultation with Region Norrbotten.

Luleå University of Technology's part of the project focuses on the needs of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, health counselors, nurses and x-ray nurses. The overall goal of the project is to raise teachers' digital skills to educate future healthcare professionals.

The project is funded by the European Social Fund.
