My primary research interests are theories of life writing with a particular focus on gender; contemporary American literature and culture; film; Modernism, especially Virginia Woolf; transculturalism; and migration literature.

I have co-edited (with Kate McLoughlin), the anthology Tove Jansson Rediscovered (2007). A new book, Writing Feminist Lives, in which I outline auto/biographical approaches to the historicizing of the modern women's movement, will be published in 2017.

My current research involves women in biofiction, and migration and literature.
