Agatino Rizzo, professor in Architecture, attended the joint Japanese-Swedish event MIRAI 2.0 to establish links between researchers in the two countries.
Agatino participated to the Sustainability working group, where it was discussed the challenges related to the implementation of smart and sustainable cities from a global perspective. The latest IPCC report was presented and discussed in light of the recent set backs in keeping global temperatures below 1.5 C as required by the Paris agreement. The need for more research into climate adaptation and mitigation applied to urban areas was stressed.
"There could be many opportunities for joint interests and projects between architecture researchers in both countries. Hopefully, there will be larger calls for funding at Formas to help establish these links" says Agatino Rizzo.
