2011 Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry Dan Shechtman visited today the Division of Sustainable Process Engineering.
Before his visit at the Division of Sustainable Process Engineering Dan Shechtman held a public lecture in the LTU Aula Aurora - Technological Entrepreneurship - a Key to World Peace and Prosperity. The visit was arranged by LKAB Academy.
The Division of Sustainable Process Engineering work with the following Research Subjects: Biochemical and Chemical Process Engineering, Chemistry of Interfaces, Chemical technology, Mineral Processing and Process Metallurgy.
- Dan´s lectures are always interesting and inspiring. And it was great to meet him in person and tell him a little about our research in Chemical Technology, Biochemical and Chemical Process Engineering and Chemistry of Interfaces, says Elisaveta Potapova, PhD in Chemical Technology.
- Dan gathered a large crowd down in the lab, not every day you get a Nobel Prize winner visiting! We told him about zeolite membranes, our projects in collaboration with LKAB, new lubricants and butanol fermentation. I think he was impressed by our lab, and especially scanning electron microscopes, since it is close to his own area of research. And for us it is an honor to have such a noble visit. We thank LKAB for this arrangement, says Elisaveta.
