"The concept of sustainability is not so easy to define, but there are ongoing projects in Finland, for example, where they plan to break the lithium from the bedrock. The requirements for a mine in a Nordic country is so high that production should be regarded as sustainable", says Pär Weihed, professor of ore geology at Luleå University.
