In the media: Mixed reality soon the reality of geologists

Published: 3 December 2020

In the future, geologists may see an ore body as a hologram in real life. The German startup company Terranigma Solutions enlists the help of LTU Business and Luleå University of Technology in the development of a mixed reality product for geologists and the mining industry.

"Today there is a lot of running between field work and office work; we make observations in nature that we record and then take with us to the office to feed data to the model we are building. This means that there may be some uncertainty about whether the model is really correct. The idea with FARMIN is to create a direct integration with nature, among other things with the support of apps", says the project coordinator Tobias Kampmann, associate senior lecturer at Luleå University of Technology.
