10th International Conference on Sewer Processes and Networks

Published: 18 October 2022

The triennial SPN conference was this time held in Graz, Austria, from the 24th – 26th of August 2022. Both Emmanuel Okwori, Annelie Hedström and Ico Broekhuizen attended SPN10 and Emmanuel presented some preliminary results from an ongoing study.

The study investigates methods such as graph theory centrality measures and network cross k-function to aid decisions regarding where redundancies can be included in sewer networks to improve resilience against adverse effects of blockage-related failures.

Some highlights from the conference included to learn about the development of sensors and sampling techniques as well as case studies related to Wastewater Based Epidemiology. Other highlights included the use of cheap cameras for monitoring FOG accumulation in pump stations and 3D scans from the surface for pipeline inspections based on electrical tomography.
