Peab and Luleå University of Technology aim to increase efficiency in the construction industry

Published: 2 May 2022

Peab and Luleå University of Technology (Division of Industrialized and Sustainable Construction) have initiated a collaboration in systematized and sustainable construction. In this way, Peab can benefit from the latest research in its work, while LTU gets the opportunity to test its research in practice. The goal is to increase efficiency in the industry and to create more sustainable construction.

Peab and LTU have jointly identified sustainable construction, digitalization and resource efficiency as important areas to collaborate in. Peab gets an academic foundation and can ensure the quality of its development work and Luleå University of Technology also gets the opportunity to test projects at student and research level in practice.

"This close collaboration with Luleå University of Technology is very positive for us at Peab as we can benefit from the research in our development and all the way to everyday life in our business. We have already started our first joint project in connection with research on systematic house building", says Mattias Lindström, technical manager at Peab.

To increase efficiency in the construction industry, systematization must increase. In the research, Peab and LTU develop support for the construction business so that they can easily provide feedback from previously made projects. The business also receives ongoing support in important issues to facilitate the choice of solutions and methods to use in construction projects.

"Through this long-term and strategic collaboration with Peab, we get a strong partner who has adopted the latest technology, which suits Luleå University of Technology's work with company-wide research on the sustainability and efficiency of construction. We are now starting development that examines how new business models can be designed for Peab to be able to meet the right effects on climate, environment and profitability", says Lars Stehn, professor and head of Industrial and Sustainable Construction at Luleå University of Technology.
