Water Resources in Iraq: perspectives and prognosis

During the period 2-5October, an international conference was held under the title “Water Resources in Iraq: perspectives and prognosis” at Komar University of Science and Technology in Sulaimaniyah, Iraq.

The Ministers of Water Resources from the central Iraqi Government and the minister of Agriculture from Kurdistan Region attend the conference. The opening ceremony started with speeches from the president of Komar university, the ministers and Professor Nadhir Al-Ansari, Luleå University of Technology.

This was followed by panel discussion. This session was chaired by Komar University president and the participants were the ministers and I. It was about water shortage in Iraq and the possible solutions to the problem. This was followed by presentations of papers (about 72 papers). The final day was a trip to Dokan Dam.
