"I am working on imparting fire safety in structures using sustainable biochar and bio-graphene"

Rhoda Afriyie Mensah is a mechanical engineer with a diversified background. She has considerable knowledge in production engineering, vehicle engineering and fire safety engineering.

"My research interests include engine performance analysis, fire safety in buildings, flammability assessments of materials as well as machine learning and predictive modelling methods. My PhD research focused on multi-scale fire analysis with emphasis on the prediction of bench scale flammability parameters from small scale experimental results. The idea for the research stemmed from the lack of resources and the high cost of fire experiments. It was therefore necessary to establish models that could accurately predict different scales of flammability parameters from the resources available," says Rhoda Afriyie Mensah.

"My previous scholarly research explored the application of artificial neural network and other artificial intelligence predictive modelling techniques in flammability studies. At present, I am one of the few researchers in the world investigating the integration of artificial intelligence in fire safety. Currently, I am working on imparting fire safety in structures using sustainable biochar and bio-graphene," says Rhoda Afriyie Mensah.
