A total of 17 speakers from various research subjects gave exciting lectures on their ongoing research within the topic given for the day. The head of the department Charlotta Johansson, presented the university´s vision 2030 in her introductory speech and summarized the results of the conference in the closure of the event.
"It was a very rewarding conference and I am very proud of all the initiatives and cross-disciplinary research that we conduct in our department", says Charlotta Johansson, head of the Department of Civil Engineering and Natural Resources.
Among some of the presentations we can mention the work with the batteries of the future that is conducted in the subject Chemistry of Interfaces at the Division of Chemical Engineering and the combination of AI and Ore geology where the Department of Civil Engineering and Natural Resources collaborates with the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering. Another exciting project is INSURANCE which is a collaboration of the research subjects of Ore Geology and Biochemical Process Engineering with the company BillerudKorsnäs. In this project energy-efficient technology is used for capturing biogenic carbon dioxide from industry for permanent storage in Swedish bedrock.
"We are almost 400 people at our department, so a conference of this kind is very important for us in order to share knowledge and initiate collaborations beyond subject boundaries, especially in these times of corona," says Betty Christakopoulou, project manager for the conference.
In addition to lectures, discussions were held in small groups regarding the department´s compliance with LTU´s vision 2030 and the efforts to achieve the goal of the green transition. A compilation of the conclusions and results of these discussions will be presented to the department. In the link below you can find all the presentations from the conference.
