Best thesis in Geosciences 2012

Joel Andersson, Ore Geology, was rewarded for his thesis The Svartliden granite: Petrography, whole rock geochemistry and stable isotope composition.

The award was presented at the annual autumn meeting SveMin November 29 at Näringslivets Hus in Stockholm. The autumn meeting was well attended, about 170 participants gathered for a conference packed with lectures on the mining industry.

Each year a scholarship is announced from The Janne Kempes Scholarship Fund for completed thesis related to mining and the environment and a scholarship related to exploration and ore geology.

Joel Andersson is currently working as a geologist for LKAB in Malmberget. Earlier this year he took his degree at the LTU master program in Earth Sciences, with specialization in ore geology and environmental geochemistry.
