"Over the years my sense of Norrbotten has strengthened and I want this county to be developed in all areas. I think it's important that we utilize and refine the variety of Norrbotten products", Sven Thysell wrote in a folder published in 2013 by Luleå University of Technology.

This year's grants go to two graduate students Abeer Humad and Robert Hällmark working with high-strength concrete and collaboration bridges where steel beams and concrete slabs combine to carry the load. The new professor in structural engineering, Andrzej Cwirzen, gets a scholarship to study self-healing concrete. Three researchers, Martin Nilsson, Ulf Ohlsson and Lars Bernspång, receive scholarships for condition assessment and numerical modeling of structures and project coordinator Carina Hannu receive a stipend for their support to the Construction Technique graduate students. Finally given a greater contribution to equipment for materials technology research at Luleå University. Parts of the research laboratory will be named Thysell Lab.
