The purpose of Cybernode is to provide a platform and a network to help and facilitate research and innovation within the area of cyber security. The idea is, among other things, to establish a national agenda, develop roadmaps and contribute to policy development at both national and international level. The node has been initiated by Vinnova and RISE.
For CiSS, the collaboration within the node means another step in the right direction, a continuation of the overall work on cyber security that is already being done at Luleå University of Technology. In addition to the Centre of Excellence CiSS, the university has a master programme in Information Security, the first Swedish programme to be included in the list of higher education programs in cyber security for which the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity , ENISA, is responsible.
– We see that our work in CiSS is starting to give results, our membership in Cybernode proofs that we are focusing on the right things, says Martin Lundgren.
Effects of collaboration
Martin Lundgren looks forward to the collaboration and believes that the Cybernode will be a natural entrance and gathering point for experts in the field. One of the node's target groups is, for example, Swedish companies and their need for cyber security and digitization. In the longer term, the node will strengthen Swedish competitiveness in the international cyber security market and hopefully significantly strengthen Sweden's opportunities to seek and win funding from the research and innovation investments in cyber security made by the EU.
– Today, research and work in cyber and information security takes place in different places, there is no clear collective grip on cyber security competencies in Sweden. For us, Cybernode can also contribute to a larger network of contacts both nationally and internationally, says Martin Lundgren.
